The Brazilian team confirmed their favoritism and hit France on Thursday (4) to advance to the semifinals of the Women’s Volleyball World Cup that takes place in Bangcoc, Thailand.
The victory of the team led by coach José Roberto Guimarães was by 3 sets to 0, with partials of 27/25, 33/31 and 25/19.
In search of a place in the final, the team sees on Saturday (6) Italy, current Olympic champion and leader of the ranking, at 9:30 am (Brasília time).
Vice-leader, Brazil will have a chance to return the suffered defeat to the Italians in the League of Nations final in July, Poland.
“Now we have a chance to try to make a different game from what was in the League of Nations. We know it won’t be easy, they have been playing very well. The team is still unbeatable. But I really believe in the potential of our team. The most important thing is to believe in our ability, in our aggressiveness,” said captain Gabi.
She also praised the team’s performance against the French, especially in the first two sets, which were the most disputed.
“I am very proud of the team, because it was not an easy game, we knew that France would come very aggressive, especially in withdrawal. We suffered a little in the first and second set, but the team did not give up the match at any time,” said the tip.
The Brazilian team had already faced the French team (13th) in the group stage, when it got a sweaty victory for 3 sets to 2, after losing the first two sets.
The team also beat Greece (29th) and Puerto Rico (19th) in the first phase of the tournament. In the round of 16, he hit the Dominican Republic (11th), also around.
Brazil seeks in the Asian country the first title in the World Cup. The Brazilian team is the current runner-up of the competition, having lost the 2022 decision to Serbia.
The team also got silver three more times: in 1994, defeated by Cuba in the final in 2006 and 2010, when he lost to Russia. The selection also took the bronze in 2014.
Russia is the biggest champion in the tournament, with seven titles. Japan and Cuba next, with three each.
