Parade celebrates the 80th anniversary of China’s victory in the so -called War of Resistance against Japan and World War II
Victoria Damasceno-China first presented its nuclear weaponry triad at the Beijing Military Parade on Wednesday (3), with a strategy that includes land, air and sea. Also exhibited the war power of the popular liberation army in a show
The trinity presented by the Asian country includes the long-range missile launched by Jinglei-1, the Julang-3 Maritime missile and two intercontinental missiles Dongfeng-61 and Dongfeng-31, according to Chinese state agency. The agency states that this is a strategic power to ensure the sovereignty of the country.
The audience watching the parade clapped and greeted in the form of surprise and approval when the missiles were announced as nuclear weapons. They are one of the last artifacts presented by the XI army, which opened the celebrations with a magazine to Chinese troops, being the only one of the men present who dismissed the traditional suit to give way to a characteristic set of Mao Tse-Tung, whose giant portrait is positioned to the center of the square.
The parade celebrates the 80th anniversary of China’s victory in the so -called War of Resistance against Japan and World War II, baptized by the anti -fascist World War Beijing. In addition to nuclear weapons, the parade featured jets, war tanks, missile interception systems, trucks, rockets, submarines and various types of aircraft.
The ceremony ignored American aid to the Chinese during the global conflict. Beijing was placed as the only winner of the wars, although the US was the main responsible for Japan’s decision to surrender, after the atomic bombs of August 1945, and remove their troops from China. Washington was still crucial to the Chinese with military aid during the conflict – equivalent to $ 700 million ($ 11.5 billion, at current values) was sent to Beijing on an American program to Japanese capitulation, according to official documents from 1946.
The US, however, did not send military personnel to China. At the end of the conflict, the Soviet Union sent troops to expel the Japanese Soldiers from Manchuria, invaded and taken from China.
The Chinese omission caught the attention of President Donald Trump, who complained. “I think the US should have been cited in China’s speech.” Earlier, in a post on Truth Social, he wrote. “The big question to be answered is whether President XI will mention the great volume of support and ‘blood’ that the US has given China to help them guarantee their freedom [sob ameaça] of a foreign invader. ”
Without making any mention of the US, Xi opened the parade with a speech in which he invited the Chinese people to be faithful to socialist thinking and Marxist-Leninist doctrines and stressed that the country does not fear violence.
“History warns us that the fate of humanity is interconnected. It is only mutually with equality, living in harmony and helping each other, the nations and peoples of the world can maintain common security,” he said.
“Today, humanity again faces a choice between peace and war, dialogue and confrontation, mutual gains, and zero -sum games. The Chinese people remain firmly alongside the justice of history.”
The beginning of the parade was marked by the firing of 80 cannon shots in reference to the celebration, in addition to the entrance of XI alongside Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Kim Jong-un, dictator of North Korea. In a carefully rehearsed show, troops took one of Beijing’s main avenues, forming symmetrical and repetitive images, such as expected.
Red and green caps were distributed, along with small flags in China that were swing according to the leaders of local employees mixed to the public. They were responsible for encouraging shouts and palms, as well as maintaining the order of the audience – algo carefully followed by those present.
The parade was seen as a message to the international community. For Steve Tsang, director of Soas China Institute at the University of London, the presentation of the new weapons only reinforces the message that the Asian giant can do whatever he wants.
“The parade shows that China has risen to a point where now follows its own norms and standards in international affairs, and no longer worries about those established by Western democracies, especially the United States,” he says.
The celebrations take place one day after XI met with several leaders on the occasion of the Shanghai Organization for the Shangoi cooperation last weekend, and as a result of the visit of the heads of state for the military parade – a campaign organized by the regime to consolidate their influence on the East and show unity in the face of Trump’s economic sanctions.
Participated in previous meetings leaders such as the president of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian; the president of Turkmenistan, to be Berdimuhamedov; Tadjiquistan President Emomali Rahmon and Mongolia President Ukhnaa Khurelsukh, who also attended a meeting with the presence of Putin.
In the parade, Brazil was represented by Celso Amorim, special advisor to the presidency.
Higher highlight was given to the Russian, who said Tuesday’s meeting that Russia and China reached an “unprecedented” level in their relations. At this Wednesday’s event, Putin placed himself next to Xi in key moments of the celebration.
When the last soldiers finished crossing Tiananmen Square, thousands of birds and balloons were released in the air, coloring the sky that had been the scene of the last generation of jets, planes and war helicopters.
