These figures were offered at a press conference on the ground by a spokesman of the National Emergency Medical Institute (INEM), Tiago Augusto, who updated the data of victims of the accident suffered by the funicular, which connects the Plaza de los Restauradores with the Alto Bairro and the viewpoint of São Pedro de Alcântara.

The injured were transported to several hospitals in the Portuguese capital, added Augusto, who explained that among the 13 minor injured is a child admitted to the Santa Maria hospital.

At the moment, the Portuguese authorities have not confirmed the nationality of the deceased or specified the causes that caused the derailment of the funicular, which was crushed against a building in a curve.
