The president of, said on Tuesday (3) that the country “will not bow to confrontations” and that its rise is “impossible to contain”. The statement was made during a military ceremony in Beijing that brought together leaders from allied countries, including Russian President and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. The celebration marked the 80th anniversary of the Chinese victory over Japan in World War II and had an extensive military parade. More than 10,000 soldiers participated in the exhibition, which presented modern armaments, drones and ballistic missiles, in a demonstration of the military power developed by the country in the last decade.

In addition to Putin and Kim, leaders of Iran, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan were also present, reinforcing Beijing’s approach with autocratic countries. Brazil was represented by the special advisor of the presidency for international affairs, Celso Amorim, which generated internal criticism due to the political character of the meeting.
