It was Paquetá’s first goal for hopscotch in over a year. The last one had been in a match against Paraguay in June 2024 at the Copa America.
In the end, Brazil beat Chile 3-0 in Maracanã and gave reasons for the Brazilian fans to smile.
Redemption after controversy in England
In the last hours of July, Lucas Paquetá was acquitted in case of manipulation of sports betting. The acquittal was communicated by West Ham, Premier League club where the Brazilian operates.
The player was waiting for the announcement of the FA’s trial outcome for almost two months. He was indicted by the English Federation in May 2024, after a 10 -month investigation.
