Pope Leo XIV. On Friday at his summer headquarters in Castel Gandolf opened a new ecological training center. The aim is to encourage world leaders to address global climate change. TASR informs according to AFP report.
After the opening ceremony of the Borgo Laudato SI (translation: Laudato Si ‘) followed the tour of the area: The Pope admired and fed fish in the fountain, stroked the recently born calf and Spanish thoroughbred. The Pope in the center also chaired the liturgy of the word. In his homily he stressed that “The care of creation is the mission of every person and a commitment to be fulfilled … without ever forgoting that we are the creatures of creatures, not the creators”.
He also quoted his predecessor in this context, Pope Francis, who urged “To restore peaceful harmony with creation and think about our lifestyle and ideals” and “fulfill that we are called to be the guards of God’s work.”
Borgo Laudato has marked the Pope for The “Hope Seed” that can bring the fruit of justice and peace through education, catechesis and ecological conversion. The establishment of the ecological project Borgo Laudato, according to its same encyclical, was announced in 2023 by Pope Francis, who was a supporter of environmental care.
His boss with a four -year term is the American priest Manuel Dorantes, who worked in the Archdiocese of Chicago. In his words, the Vatican wants to set an example of how countries should be devoted to environmental initiatives.
The aim is to offer room for deeper knowledge of the values contained in the encyclical by using botany, biology, biology, ecology and related fields. It will also provide practical training courses for future gardeners and greenery maintenance staff.
The project is open to the general public and people who do not receive opportunities in everyday life: Migrants, women experiencing violence, people with disabilities, former prisoners or persons in the process of re -socialization. It was on these people that Pope Francis put special emphasis.
