Prime Minister Albanese discussed with Trump on mineral resources and relationships. The call was focused on critical minerals, trade and security interests of both countries.
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said he was on Thursday with US President Donald Trump on critical minerals, security and trade. He described the interview as “cordial and constructive”, TASR reports according to the AFP report.
“We have discussed our business and economic relationships as well as … critical minerals,” Albanese said on social networks. “We also talked about common US and Australia security interests,” he added.
Telephone calls
Thursday’s call was the fourth interview between the two leaders from Trump’s re -election last November, recalls AFP. Personally, according to the agency, they could meet for the first time during the UN General Assembly in New York, which will take place later in September.
Australia has rich bearings of critical minerals such as lithium, nickel and cobalt, but it sells most as a raw ore that is processed in Chinese factories. Albanese said in April that the country will begin to create strategic reserve reserves of these minerals, explains AFP.
