State Representative Reis (PT) has summoned opposition colleagues and even the Governor’s base (Republicans) to protest in the Alesp (Legislative Assembly of São Paulo) against the amount of him is the author of a bill that mocks Tarcisio and creates veto day in the state calendar.
The act will be on September 29 at the Dom Pedro 1st Plenary at 17h. According to Reis, Tarcisio has already applied 263 vetoes to bills presented by the deputies.
“Tarcisio is the king of vetoes. Even deputies of the situation, who presented good projects, suffered. Everyone is invited to defend their proposals,” says Reis.
“When a deputy presents a bill, it is because there was already a discussion with the community and there is a demand, but the governor ends up over the popular will.”
The veto day project was presented in September 2023. “My project is stopped in the commissions, it has not yet been vote,” he says.
Survey made by Sheet in January this year shows that. Between 2023 and 2024, the governor vetoed 200 projects, 145 total and 55 partial.
Behind him, according to the survey, are Geraldo Alckmin, with 128 vetoes in 2011 and 2012 and João Doria, responsible for 116 vetoes in 2019 and 2020.
As a justification, Tarcisio management says that vetoes are due to technical and legal reasons, usually with devices in disagreement with constitutional rules or contrary to the public interest.
In May this year, the president of Alesp, to adjust the proposals that will be taken to the Plenary in an attempt to avoid further vetoes.
The proposal has not yet left the paper. According to the General Parliamentary Secretariat (SGP) of the Legislative Assembly, there are more than 700 vetoes (including previous governments) to be evaluated. And only after this filtering is it possible to follow with the working group.
