Bolsonaro's trial will have extra session at the request of Moraes

The president of the First Class of the Supreme Federal Court (STF), Minister Cristiano Zanin, included on the agenda next Thursday (11) an extraordinary session for the trial of former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) and seven allies accused of attempted coup.

The request was made by the rapporteur of the case, Minister Alexandre de Moraes, this Friday (5). In order, Moraes argued that the Initial calendar would not be sufficient to complete the analysis and requested the holding of complementary sessions.

With the decision, in addition to the dates already foreseen (2, 3, 9, 10 and 12 September), the ministers will also meet on Thursday (11), from 9h to 19h. The STF plenary, which would have a session on the same day, has already canceled its agenda to make room for trial.

The oral support of the defenses were completed last Wednesday (3). The next step will be the vote, which began by Moraes and followed by Flávio Dino, Cármen Lúcia, Luiz Fux and, finally, Zanin.

Defendants of the Process

  • Jair Bolsonaro, former President of the Republic
  • Alexandre Ramagem, deputy and former director of Abin
  • Almir Garnier Santos, former commander of the Navy
  • Anderson Torres, former Minister of Justice
  • Augusto Heleno, former GSI minister
  • Mauro Cid, former Assistant of Bolsonaro Orders
  • Paulo Sérgio Nogueira, former Minister of Defense
  • Walter Braga Netto, former Minister of the Civil House and Defense
