The governor of Maranhão, (PSB), spent R $ 155 thousand on run -class airline tickets to Europe and stretches within the continent, on two official trips in May and June that included meeting with OE agendas in Paris, Stockholm and London.
He also received R $ 85,900 in daily rates for these itineraries. The data obtained by the panel refers only to the governor’s expenses, and not to advisers who traveled with him – in that, the total spending is even greater.
On April 27, the government’s travel agency issued a time of R $ 36,179.24 to Paris, leaving on May 23.
The return was issued to June 2 and cost R $ 23,382.54. However, the governor changed the date of return to June 7, which led to the loss of this stretch without reimbursement to the public coffers, and the issuance of a new return ticket to Brazil for R $ 16,186.26.
On the trip, Brandão went from Paris to Stockholm, costing R $ 7,356.51, and returned to the French capital, with a ticket bought for R $ 9,423.39.
At the end of June, the governor made a new trip to Europe, this time to Rome and passing through London. The round trip passed for R $ 59,532.60.
In the Italian capital, he was, on June 21, along with delegation from the Catholic Parliamentary Front, in an event at the Vatican in which he accompanied the Pope’s speech at the rulers’ Jubilee.

As the panel showed, state deputies of opposition to Brandão asking the governor to be ordered to reimburse the state purse by $ 1 million for justifying a trip to “using agendas that did not demand their presence.”

In addition to the formalization for the delivery of the Natural Heritage Certificate to the Maranhenses Lençóis by UNESCO to occur in Maranhão.
The State Government also clarifies that resettlement of the tickets was due to the change of President Lula’s agenda.
The mission for England has resulted in the earning of US $ 100 million in investments for the recovery of forest areas, land regularization and combating burning in Maranhão, the result of a strategic alliance signed with Mercuria Energy Group, a Swiss multinational commodity marketing. This is the largest investment of this nature of private initiative for a Brazilian state.
Finally, the State Government highlights that it works uninterruptedly for the development of Maranhão and reinforces its commitment to the legality and morality of management, which acts focused on results and consequent improvements of socioeconomic and environmental indicators.
