Lula also sent a message to political opponents:

“Who should be worried are my possible opponents, that I do not know who will be, but that come as many as they wanted to compete. What I think is wonderful is: I am not afraid to compete. We will be judged by the people. It is the people who will say who will govern this country,” said the president.

Asked about the comments he quotes his age – in October, Lula will turn 80, he countered by stating that this phase represents the apex of the maturity of a human being.

“There is only one hypothesis that I am not a candidate-if I have any health problems or if a better candidate appears than me. Now, one thing I can tell you: the far right will not go back to this country, because the democrats of this country will not allow,” said Lula.
