Man given as dead in cable car accident is found alive in Portugal

Police confirmed that a man who had been declared dead in the cable car accident in Lisbon was found alive in a hospital. At least 16 people died after the traditional Portuguese elevator derailed and fell on Wednesday (3).

The child was found among a local worker, crying and covered with blood. Speaking to the local press, the worker described the scene and said he heard “a great sound” that led him to run toward the area, just to find the child crying between “many bodies.”

Since it was removed from the scene of the accident by emergency services, the child has received medical treatment and has been discharged.

The child is accompanied by his aunt and grandparents. The father recovers at the São José Hospital in Lisbon and the mother, although still hospitalized, is stable after undergoing surgery.
