In a speech – and hours before – the governor praised the role of private initiative in the economy and reaffirmed the relevance of his government’s privatization agenda.
“We shape [projetos de concessão]we face such a program, because we believe in private initiative as a driving force. We believe it is the private resource that will bring the transformation. We believe it is the market that will provide the reduction of inequalities, which will provide the explosion of investment that we need. The state itself would not be able to do that, “he said.
In the sequence of statements, Tarcisio also said that his government sought to make all tax adjustments and be strict with public accounts. According to him, his management “did his homework to be able to do private partnerships.”
The speech about the role of private initiative occurs at a time when Tarcisio has been giving more signs of a possible presidential candidacy in 2026. Publicly, however, the governor reaffirms to be a candidate for reelection in Sao Paulo.
“This place is special,” he said as he climbed on the stage on Friday. In his post-heilon speech, he cited his government privatization projects-as Sabesp’s-and measures such as administrative reform and change in regulatory agencies.
According to him, when his government launched the partnership and privatization program, he expected to hire $ 220 billion in investments. “Today, we reach $ 367 billion. In two years and eight months. It’s a lot of money.”
The governor also mentioned the Santos-Guarujá tunnel auction, which takes place this Friday. The project is done in partnership with the Union, but Tarcisio avoided any mention of the federal government.
