According to the president of the United States, the name department of war sends a sign of the country’s strength; ‘The war in Ukraine will end, or there will be a high price to pay,’ he added

The president of the United States, signed on Friday (5) a decree that renamed the defense folder as Department of War, a decision that, in his opinion, sends a “message of victory” to the world. “It’s a much more appropriate name in light of how the world is now,” Trump told journalists at the Oval Hall, alongside the new “Secretary of War,” Pete Hegseth.

“After winning a War of Independence in 1789, George Washington created the War Department,” recalled Hegseth. “And this country won all the great wars after that, including World War I and World War II,” he added.

The change of war department to defense occurred after World War II in 1947, and “as you observed, Mr. President, we have not won an important war ever since, and with that I do not want to disregard our combatants,” he said.

The now department of war, whose headquarters is the building on the outskirts of Washington known as Pentagon, has more than three million military and civil officials. The United States Armed Forces are the most powerful in the world, although under the growing competition of China.

Trump also signed an order on privacy of information from real estate buyers and an order authorizing sanctions against complicit countries in improper detention of US citizens. The “Fentanil of China is coming from Canada,” he added.
