Dutch pilot Max Verstappen (Red Bull) won the Grand Prix of Formula 1 Italy, played on Sunday (7) ahead of the English McLarens Lando Norris and Australian Oscar Pistri, who remained in the lead of the World Cup.

In the famous Monza circuit, very close to the headquarters of the legendary ‘Scuderia’, the Ferraris of Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton ended in fourth and sixth, respectively, while Brazilian Gabriel Bortoleto, Sauber, closed the race in eighth place and won four points.

Oscar Piostri’s advantage at the World Cup was reduced from 34 to 31 points after he returned second place to Monza to teammate and rival for the title Lando Norris by McLaren orders.

Norris was in second place, but a problem in the wheel pistol during his pit stop at the end of the race cost him 5.9 seconds and made the Briton fall behind Pistri, although it was assured that he would not lose position to the Australian.

Pistri was asked to return the position and obeyed, finishing third, while Verstappen went quiet to the checkered flag and completed an Italian double in the territory of Ferrari with his first victory since Imola in May.

Check out the World Cup classification

1 – Oscar Pistri (AUS, McLaren): 324 points
2 – Lando Norris (GBR, McLaren): 293 points

3 – Max Verstappen (HOL, Red Bull): 230 pontos
16 – Gabriel Bortoleto (Bra, Sauber): 18 points
