PHEV SUV pioneer, Mitsubishi Outlander is back with recognized qualities and even a renewed hybrid system. Always very Japanese in style and environment, the usual perceived quality, convinces in dynamics and does not destroy the efficiency of the driving system. Prices align with the competitor offer.
The image uses another Dynamic Shield derivation, here with the high headlights and the “indispensable” chrome that support the daytime lights. Great grill on two planes, including the diamond emblem, a bumper-separated air inlet, the outlander has at least sui-gegeis.
The rest is dressed in horizontal strokes associated with the muscle well designed to mark the silhouette. The posture is convincing and the 20 inch rims, in this case, help balance the long distance to the ground (19.9 cm).
The rear adopts a hexagonal style gate, reminding the Pajero. The horizontal lights are added to widen the shoulders and suggest more width and stability. But there is no doubt: it could only be Japanese and it will not be consensual.
In the cabin, we breathe an environment that portrays the Japanese tradition. The finishes are cared for and do not dispense with refinement notes. The novelty is a 12.3 inch digital instrument panel (loaded with information!) That is complemented by a central screen of the same dimension. To greet, the physical commands for the air conditioner gathered in its own module, and a wide, well -structured console.
Skin finishes surpass good quality plastic and there are many surfaces coated with material imitating the metal. Well built, be careful but also denoting some lack of modernity.
Overlated rear seat, reduced central place, small tunnel on the floor, space to pass your feet under the front seats, you have the roof lining to be fuller to receive the large glazed panel that illuminates the environment and steal some space for the head. The 495 liters luggage does not require criticism and is not surprising in a 4.78 m long and 1.77 m high SUV.
The new Outlander still resorts to the alliance synergies and then sit on the platform used by the Nissan Qashqai of suspension multi -parts ago. It combines a four -cylinder 2.4 -cylinder engine, to debit 136 hp, with two electrical units, one per shaft, with the power of 85 kWh ahead, and 100 kWh behind, which guarantee four -wheeled traction. The battery has 22.7 kWh capacity. Single speed transmission, 302 hp combined power, 7.9 seconds from 0 to 100, and a consumption of 0.8 liters at 100 are the numbers announced by Mitsubishi.
To these values, almost always difficult to reach, the Japanese brand adds the promise of an electrical autonomy that can reach 86 kilometers and, in a car with deposit now to 53 liters of gasoline, a total autonomy capable of reaching 844 km.
The operating modes are four – normal, save, EV and charge: normal (automatically optimizes EV/hybrid conduction); EV (electric propulsion when there is battery charge); SAVE (priority to battery charge level); Charge (battery rechargement). As for driving modes, seven – normal, echo, power, tar, earth, snow and mud. Finally, solutions to all types of terrain in a magazine suspension car to ensure greater management.
There are three propulsion choices: EV mode (circulation using the energy stored on the battery); Hybrid mode in series (combustion engine used as a generator to feed the electric motors, along with battery energy); Parallel hybrid mode (priority to the combustion engine, with electrical aid in acceleration, being the surplus of power used to charge the battery).
Well sitting behind the wheel, naturally in high position, we will find a good roller vein, pleasant to guide, growing natural without replons, but letting the 2145 kg of weight. Still, accelerates from 0 to 100 in 7.9 seconds and reaches 170 km/h top speed. Regeneration (five levels) is regulated on steering wheel tabs or B function in the gear selector, which ensures the automatism of proper choice. In curve, and as the speed increases, it does not fail to accuse the height and manifest a tendency for slight adorning. In any case, a good suspension commitment, also with regard to comfort. Direction has assistance compatible with such a SUV and progressive brakes, fulfill their role well.
The hybrid system, unsurprisingly, convinces for efficiency in a car with three modes of operation that are automatically generated and contribute to a high driver’s confidence level. In addition to EV mode, the outlander can work in parallel hybrid (primacy to the thermal unit with electrical aid in acceleration and front -wheel drive) and hybrid in series (combustion engine generates electric motors generator that ensures traction). All this is automatically processed.
Automatic is also the whole-wheel drive system, without transmission (S-AWC) and a rear asset differentiation, which distributes the binary between rear wheels ensuring the vectorization that improves curved behavior, such as the natural initial subviurm tendency.
In practical terms, in suburban driving, I got 78 km in electric mode (19.2 kWh/100 km), in the first 100 km the consumption was 2.2 liters at 100. Battery to zero, the average was 8.4 liters/100 km and, at the end, 198 km was worth the average 5.3 liters/100 km (20.8 kWh). It seems honest, fulfilling the speed limits and compared to the 86 promised by the brand, even having been very little in city traffic.
The new outlander admits fast loading, but only through a 50 kW DC Chademo record. It will be possible to take the battery from 0 to 80% of the capacity in 32 minutes. In a 3.5 kW AC outlet it will take six and a half hours.
In terms of equipment, the Mitsubishi SUV is aligned with the five options available. The Intense version, with the price of 44,000 €+VAT, includes, namely Full LED lighting, warm skin and alcântara benches, such as steering wheel, head-up-display, premium sound system, 360º chamber, electric trunk, 20 inch rims.
In terms of warranty, the Mitsubishi Outlander offers five years or 100,000 km, with additional eight -year and 160 000 km, the same data for the traction battery. Travel assistance is also eight years.
