Bahia reached an agreement with Neom, a newly promoted team of the Saudi soccer elite, for the sale of striker Lucho Rodriguez. The transaction must be completed for 22 million euros (R $ 139 million in the current price). The information is from “GE”.
The conversations between the clubs intensified this weekend, while playing the final of the Northeast Cup. Lucho even scored one of the goals of the 5-0 win over the confidence that sealed the title at the Fonte Nova Arena.
The Saudis agreed to pay 20 million euros in cash to hire the Uruguayan, plus 2 million euros in bonuses for goals. Bahia will still have 25% of a future sale of the center forward by Neom.
Negotiation will be record in northeastern football
The amount involved in the negotiation of Lucho Rodriguez means not only the biggest sale in Bahia’s history, but also from the whole Northeast. The striker will surpass the sale of Pedro Lima, from Sport to Wolverhampton-Ag, for 10 million euros (R $ 61 million in the quotation of the time).
The Uruguayan arrived at Tricolor a year ago in July 2024, when the club paid 11 million euros (R $ 65 million at the time) to Liverpool-URU for the then highlight of the Uruguayan U-20 team. He even became the most expensive athlete in Bahia’s history.
