(Reuters)-Six people were killed on a shooting at a bus stop on the outskirts of Jerusalem on Monday, Israel’s ambulance service said while police said the perpetrators were killed.
It was not immediately clear who performed the gunfire or what was the reason. The Palestinian militant group Hamas praised two Palestinian “resistance combatants” who, according to the group, performed the attack but did not claim the responsibility.
The ambulance service identified five of the victims as a 50 -year -old man, a woman in her 50s and three men in her 30s. He said 11 other people were injured, including six who were in serious condition with bullet injuries.

Israeli police said two attackers arrived by car and opened fire on a bus stop at the Ramot intersection. He added that a security officer and a civilian shot and killed the attackers. Several weapons, ammunition and a knife used by attackers, which police identified only as “terrorists”, were recovered at the scene, police said.
Islamic Jihad, another Palestinian militant group, also praised the attack, but did not claim responsibility for him.
The junction is located in a part of Jerusalem that Israel captured in the 1967 war and later annexed in an action that the United Nations and most countries do not recognize.

The Prime Minister’s office said Benjamin Netanyahu was performing an “assessment of the situation” with security authorities.
Reuters images showed a strong police presence in the Ramot area after the shooting. The ambulance service said that a paramedic that arrived at the scene reported that several victims were lying on the road and sidewalk, some unconscious.
“This was a very serious scene,” said Fadi Dekaidek Paramedic, according to the ambulance service.

The Israeli Armed Forces said they sent soldiers to the area and were helping police search for suspects. Soldiers were also operating in areas of Ramallah, in the Israeli -occupied West Bank to perform interrogations and “frustrate terrorism,” they added.
