Billionaire businessman Elon Musk again pronounced on international politics in his X profile. Faced with the crisis in Japan, where Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba announced resignation to avoid a motion of distrust within the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), musk wrote that “Japan needs its version of Germany’s AFD to rapidly grow and save the nation.”
The reference is to the German Party of an alternative far right for Germany (AFD), which has gained popularity in the European country with an ultra -conservative agenda. Musk’s comment can be interpreted as an indirect support for LDP’s hardest wing names, such as former ultra-conservative minister Sanae Takaichi, a favorite to succeed Ishiba.
The Japanese prime Minister decided to leave office after the historical defeat of his party in the July parliamentary elections. The choice of the new leader should take place in October, amid the political impasse and the challenge of dealing with population decline, a theme that Musk classified as urgent in his post.
