Before him, Gabriel Medina (2014, 2018 and 2021), Adriano de Souza (2015), Italo Ferreira (2019) and Filipe Toledo (2022 and 2023) won the WSL title. The eighth achievement of Brazil came after Yago hit the post twice. In 2023, he even went to the WSL finals, but was fifth. Already last year, Yago was out of the final. He ended in sixth. Posters with support messages and masks with the face of the Brazilian surfer were seen at the airport to receive Yago, who distributed autographs and posed for photos. He uses Lycra with number 9 for being a fan of Ronaldo Phenomenon and wanted to be a soccer player.
