Carris did not require experience for maintenance technicians. Company dedicated to pools until 2022

When he signed the initial Gloria elevator maintenance contract in 2019, Carris did not require previous experience with Electrics to Main’s technical teams.

Carris awarded, in 2019, the maintenance of the Glory Elevator to MNTC – Technical Engineering Services, LDA. (Known as Main), without demanding previous experience to technical teams of the company. The revelation was made by the magazine and confirmed by the carrier Lisboeta.

In the public tender launched in June of this year, with a base price of one million euros, Main won the present the lowest proposalworth 868 thousand euros. In the book of charges there was no requirement for experience for technicians related to the service, allowing the company, hitherto without history in the sector, to obtain the contract.

Before that, Main was dedicated to Pool maintenance and air treatmentespecially during the pandemic. Only in 2022 officially altered its corporate purpose to include “repair, maintenance and installation of machinery and equipment”.

In July of the same year, Carris again launched a competition, this time with a base price of 1.7 million euros, already requiring minimum experience of two years in equipment maintenance. Still, Main won again, presenting the lowest proposal of 851 thousand euros. With additional repair services due to vandalism and accidents, the final value of the contract has risen to about 995 thousand euros, which corresponds to almost half of the maximum budget and far lower than competing proposals.

Main was Created 15 years ago by engineer Gustavo Pita Soares, who holds 75% of the capital, with the remaining 25% to belong to his girlfriend, Marieta Garcias. The company, based in Almada, has 28 employees and a capital of 15,000 euros. In 2024, it registered a revenue of 1.29 million euros.

Since 2017, Main already signed at least 33 public contractstotaling more than four million euros, involving municipalities and public companies.

More recently, in 2025, the contest for maintenance of the Glory Elevator was canceled because all proposals were above the budget available. To ensure the continuity of the service, Carris resorted to an urgent prior consultation, again attributing to Main the maintenance of the funicular for a period of five months.
