The President (PT) began, this Wednesday (10.Set.2025), the process of connection of Roraima to the National Interconnected System of Electric Energy. At an event at the OnS (National Electric System Operator), in Brasilia, the petista made a provocation to Donald Trump (Republican Party), saying that the Republican came to know the Brazilian interconnection.

According to the Minister of Mines and Energy, there will be an estimated economy of R $ 45 million per month. The expense will be saved by all Brazilian consumers because the thermoelectric plants used to supply Roraima will no longer be necessary.
The capacity of the Linhão is 1GW, which would be sufficient to supply 4 times the state of Roraima. The idea is that the arrival of reliable energy to the region can boost development. In addition, Silveira also expects the line to bring Venezuela energy to the whole of Brazil in the future.
Roraima was the only state that was not yet part of the national electrical system. Today, it depends exclusively on diesel and gas -powered thermoelectric plants, funded by CCC (fuel consumption account).

The Linhão was bid in 2011 and should have entered operation in 2015. The schedule delayed for obstacles in environmental licensing, especially in the indigenous area.

The works were only resumed in October 2022, after with the Waimiri Atroari community and the Union.
Privatization of Eletrobras
