In an event at OnS, the petista says that the Republican could know the Brazilian system; Economy should be R $ 45 million per month

The President (PT) began, this Wednesday (10.Set.2025), the process of connection of Roraima to the National Interconnected System of Electric Energy. At an event at the OnS (National Electric System Operator), in Brasilia, the petista made a provocation to Donald Trump (Republican Party), saying that the Republican came to know the Brazilian interconnection.

“Instead of Trump keeping with us, he should come to know our interconnected system”he declared. The US has criticized Brazil for the lawsuit against the former president (PL) and other topics. There are an exported that country.

Lula also said that Brazil can send energy to the US if they want, and is a central country in the energy transition.

“President Trump, please look: there are 175,000 km of interconnected transmission network and we still saw interconnect with other South American countries because we can be central to this energy transition”.declared the petista.

“R $ 2.6 billion reais were invested in approximately 725 km long, in a double circuit of 500 kV, from the substation Eng. Lechuga, in the state of Amazonas, to Boa Vista substation, in the capital of Roraima.”said Lula.

According to the Minister of Mines and Energy, there will be an estimated economy of R $ 45 million per month. The expense will be saved by all Brazilian consumers because the thermoelectric plants used to supply Roraima will no longer be necessary.

The capacity of the Linhão is 1GW, which would be sufficient to supply 4 times the state of Roraima. The idea is that the arrival of reliable energy to the region can boost development. In addition, Silveira also expects the line to bring Venezuela energy to the whole of Brazil in the future.

Roraima was the only state that was not yet part of the national electrical system. Today, it depends exclusively on diesel and gas -powered thermoelectric plants, funded by CCC (fuel consumption account).

Constant falls

Roraima’s connection to Sin should also solve a historical problem of power outage and frequent bleaches.

Since March 2019, when Venezuela interrupted the state’s electric supply, the system has only depended on local thermal. Recurring supply failures directly impact residential consumers and make it difficult to install industries in the region.

10 years of delay

The Linhão was bid in 2011 and should have entered operation in 2015. The schedule delayed for obstacles in environmental licensing, especially in the indigenous area.

The concessionaire even requested the termination of the contract, but in 2021, he signed an additive extending deadlines and opened arbitration to discuss the economic and financial rebalancing.

The works were only resumed in October 2022, after with the Waimiri Atroari community and the Union.

Privatization of Eletrobras

The continuity of the work was included in 2021 through a senator amendment (Republicans-RR). Read A (PDF – 351 KB).

The text determined that the Union should ensure the interconnection of isolated systems to the SIN, preventing the privatization of the state -owned company from making projects such as the Linhão.
