Meet the restaurant in Algarve where food and customers only arrive by boat

Few places in the Algarve combine isolation, gastronomic tradition and sustainability such as the staminé. Situated on the deserted island, in the municipality of Faro, this restaurant can only be reached by boat and has become a reference not only by the natural surroundings, but also by the way it integrates Ria Formosa products in its kitchen.

According to Animaris, the entity responsible for space management, Estaminé was reborn in 2021 after a fire, adopting an even more ecological structure. In addition to the restaurant, the space acts as a solar and drinking water production center, ensuring the island’s energy and environmental self -sufficiency.

A desert island with tradition at the table

The restaurant remains open all year round and proposes a letter inspired by the local inheritance. According to the same source, the grill is used to prepare fresh fish only with salt, while the solar -powered stove gives rise to emblematic dishes such as seafood rice or beef tail.

In the menu include the oysters of Ria Formosa, clams to Bulhão Pato, the nail of octopus and the squids to the Algarve. Writes the newspaper that the average price per meal surrounds the 40 euros, reflecting the quality and diversity of the available options.

This year’s menu reveals a strong connection to the territory. Customers can start with snacks, such as the Mini Risenol de Gamba Violet, the tuna muxama, the fried island’s chocolate or the octopus salad. Some of these dishes are available from eight euros, making them ideal to share before the main dishes.

The letter values sharing, proposing a tasting with small doses of the most iconic flavors, including oysters, beach shrimp, harsh and muxama. This philosophy approaches family traditions, where living at the table is a central part of the experience.

Between seafood and meat

The staminé is not limited to shellfish or grilled fish. According to the menu, the offer includes meat dishes, such as the Angus Bull Naco, which exceeds 30 euros, the coal -baked pork leg and the iconic ox tail in red wine reduction, accompanied by white rice with raisins and almond, served by 28 euros.

Among the options of rice and pasta, stand out the laundry rice, priced at 75 euros for two people; and the more affordable shellfish Xarém, available from 26 euros. The desserts have more moderate values, usually between five and seven euros, with proposals, such as sweet rice, chocolate mousse or flambé pineapple with vanilla ice cream.

A destination that is more than a restaurant

Note that the stamina has thus become an example of how it is possible to unite gastronomy, sustainability and nature tourism. Accessibility by boat only reinforces the sense of exclusivity, but it is the connection to Ria Formosa that defines the identity of the space.
