PF investigates SUS funds deviation in operation in Rio de Janeiro

The Federal Police launched, on Wednesday (10), the Anthracite operation to investigate suspicions of Deviation of federal public funds intended for SUS (Unified Health System) in the state of Rio de Janeiro. The action, which has the support of the CGU (Comptroller General of the Union), investigates possible crimes of embezzlement, criminal association and capital washing.

In all, they are being fulfilled 16 search and seizure warrants In different cities in Rio de Janeiro, including Rio de Janeiro, Niterói, São Gonçalo, Saquarema, Rio Bonito, Santa Maria Madalena and Cachoeiras de Macacu.

The investigation began at the Federal Police Station in Macaé, from the analysis of contracts signed between 2022 and 2024 by a social organization with city halls of various municipalities, including Duque de Caxias, São Gonçalo, Arraial do Cabo, Cordeiro and Quissamã.

According to CGU, the entity’s contracts add up to about R $ 1.6 billionof which R $ 91 million correspond to federal resources.

Audits carried out by the TCE-RJ (State Court of Auditors) and CGU identified evidence of irregularities, such as the absence of objective selection process, directed hiring and lack of proof of effective provision of services.

Investigated may be responsible for the crimes identified throughout the calculation.
