SBT guarantees 2026 World Cup Games broadcast

SBT has signed an agreement with the Livemode agency, responsible for FIFA’s broadcast rights, to display the 2026 World Cup. According to columnist Flávio Ricco, the contract is practically closed, missing only bureaucratic formalities.

The official announcement can be made this Wednesday (10), after approval by President Daniela Beyruti.

The package acquired by the station includes all the Brazilian team games, as well as decisive matches of the competition, which will have for the first time with 48 teams.

SBT negotiation for the 2026 World Cup rights

Behind the scenes, Livemode has conducted negotiations with several Brazilian broadcasters. In addition to SBT, Record also seeks to acquire the rights of the tournament still available.

It is estimated that the value of the last portion of transmission rights has been around R $ 200 million.

Thus, this will be the first time since 1998 that SBT will convey a World Cup. In the last edition, held in France and which had Brazil as runner-up, the station broadcast 49 live games and 15 compact, with an investment of $ 2.6 million.

Cup coverage of 2026 in Brazil

TV Globo also guaranteed participation in the coverage of the 2026 World Cup, acquiring the rights to 52 of the 104 games, including opening, matches of the Brazilian team, semifinals and final.

At the same time, Cazétv has announced that it will display all 104 games on Youtube live live.

Thus, the World Cup will feature multiplatform coverage, covering open, closed, and streaming TV channels, with expanded access by football fans to matches.
