New general, in the fifth in less than a month, was noted in the country as the country is facing a very serious one, authorities said.
“There has been a complete disconnection of the SEN electricity system, which may be associated with an unexpected shutdown of the Antonio Gitteras thermoelectric unit in the center of the island, but the causes are still being investigated,” the Ministry of Energy and Mines said via the X platform.
According to the Network Management Service, the blackout was recorded at 9.14 in the morning (16.14 hours of Greece).
The ministry assured that the lesion recovery process has already begun.
Continuous power outages
Even before today’s blackout, many areas of the island were experiencing daily vacations in electricity that reached up to 16 hours.
Cuba’s energy production and distribution system is obsolete while at the same time the country is plagued by lack of fuel, natural disasters and an economic crisis. Oil -operated power stations and outdated, are trying to keep the lights on, even though they have reached their limits last year, when oil imports from Venezuela, Russia and Mexico have declined.
