In the summer, the care of roses mainly involves fertilization, protection against pests, watering and cutting over faded flowers. In September it should look a bit different. In autumn, you should prepare bushes for the coming winter in various respects – but without fear, it is not difficult or time consuming, but it allows you to protect roses well.
In autumn, nitrogen should no longer be fertilized. Providing them with growth -supporting minerals can make them release shoots just before winter, which is not advisable. It is better to limit yourself to removing flowers. This is important because the plant will not focus on maintaining dead parts, but will direct its energy into live branches. At the same time, if possible, the inflorescences are better removed with your hand, not a pruning sheek.
In September, nutrients rich in components strengthening the root system, i.e. phosphorus and potassium, should be used. Such microelements will allow the plant to survive the winter better. You can use, among others Natural compost. Fertilization should be carried out no later than mid -SeptemberSo that the plants manage to absorb the nutrients.

In September, take the first steps to prepare roses for winter. First of all, it should be Limit watering – temperatures are not so high anymore, and moisture lasts longer in the ground. So, in order not to pour the bushes and bring to rotting roots, it is worth reducing the watering frequency – the easiest way to control the ground, if it is dry, should be supplied with water.
Under, when the temperatures at night begin to fall below 0 degrees C. It should be protected by roses (it is better to do it even a little faster), the easiest way to kick, i.e. the mound of peat mound around the plants to a height of about 20 cm. You can also use litter, among others from the bark, or cover the roses with branches of Christmas trees. Agricultural donations can also protect them from cold.
In the case of climbing (especially smaller) roses, they can be removed from the support, put on the ground and protected against frost, e.g. agrotextile. Roses in pots, if you have such an opportunity, should be taken home or thoroughly protecting in pots and cover from the wind.
