The Bolivian National Police and the Brazilian Federal Police arrested in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia, on Wednesday night (10), a fugitive from the Brazilian court linked to the largest criminal faction of Rio Grande do Sul. He had been on the run since 2024 for the death of a gaucho photographer.
Juliano Biron da Silva, the “Biron”, used a fake document to stay in the neighboring country and had four open arrest warrants, as well as being in the red diffusion of Interpol, sought in 196 countries.
Biron was sentenced to 20 years and eight months in prison for the murder of photographer José Gustavo Bertol Gargioni, 22, in Canoas, in the metropolitan region of Porto Alegre. According to Rio Grande do Sul police, the young photographer was tortured and shot dead in July 2015, on Paquetá Beach. According to the sentence, the crime was committed by jealousy.
According to the PF, it had already been the target of assets kidnapping measures in Brazil, valued at more than $ 120 million.
The prisoner was expelled from Bolivia to Corumbá (MS) and will be sent to a penitentiary in Rio Grande do Sul, where he will serve his sentence.
The expulsion of members of criminal factions to Brazil is a practice that has been adopted by the Bolivian and Paraguayan authorities.
The identification was possible from information passed by the Federal Police, through the International Police Cooperation Center in Rio de Janeiro (CCPI-RJ) and the PF connection officer in Bolivia.
