House advances vote on the MP of the Social Energy Tariff

Text needs to be approved by September 17 to avoid validity; Measure ensures free electricity bill for low -income families

The House of Representatives removed from the agenda of this 4th (10.Set.2025) the vote of Provisional Measure 1,300 of 2025, which expands the TSEE (Social Tariff of Electric Power). The measure ensures free consumption of up to 80 kWh (kilowatt-hour) per month for low-income families. Read the text (PDF – 449 KB).

The announcement was made by the 2nd Secretary of the House, Deputy Lula da Fonte (PP-PE), who presided over the session in place of (Republicans-PB). According to him, the deputies will vote only the bill that authorizes the creation of the Caixa Foundation, linked to Caixa Econômica Federal.

The social tariff MP needs to be approved by September 17 in the House and Senate so as not to lose their validity. The text has gone, but it still depends on the analysis of the plenary of the two houses.

On Tuesday (9.Set), Motta had included the measure on the agenda of the week and indicated that would be voted on this 4th. The rapporteur, deputy (União Brasil-PE), still makes adjustments in the text. Read the report (PDF – 147 kb).

From the current version, points were outstanding that dealt with, the revision of rules on concessions and the expansion of powers of (National Electric Energy Agency).

These excerpts should be resumed in another provisional measure, that of 2025, which deals with the reduction of tariff impacts.

The Minister of Mines and Energy, said this Wednesday that he has dialogued with Coelho Filho to prevent structural changes in the electricity sector from being set aside.
