Goalkeeper Hugo Souza reached an important mark in 2-0 win over ATHlethic-prlast Wednesday (10), for the quarterfinals of the Brazilian Cup.
With the defense in Benavidity ‘finish, the archer exceeded Dida in the penalty shootout, reaching eight interventions.
Dida, considered one of the biggest goalkeepers in the club’s history, had defended seven penalties in 95 games played. Hugo reached eight in just 77 matches.
Currently, only Ronaldo Giovanelli and Gylmar dos Santos Neves are ahead of the current Corinthian goalkeeper.
Against Athletico, Hugo made his fourth penalty defense of the season. He had already stopped charges from Stephen and Raphael Veiga () and Pablo Dyego (Grêmio Novorizontino).
In 2024, the archer also defended penalties against (Cristaldo), in the Brazilian Cup, and Red Bull Bragantino (Gustavo, Douglas Mendes and Guilherme Lopes), by South American.
