Albania names minister created by artificial intelligence with the mission of combating corruption

Albania became the first country in the world to officially integrate artificial intelligence into the government. The new minister is named Diella, a name meaning “ray of sunshine”, and was presented during the Albanian socialist party assembly.

Its mission is clear: to combat corruption, taking full responsibility for decisions related to public tenders. Thus, no human being will have direct influence on this process, and everything is in charge of technology.

The announcement marks a historic and controversial step, raising debates about to what extent policy can and should be delegated to artificial intelligence systems.
