Bolsonaro and allies will be ineligible for eight years

Unanimously, the First Class of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) decided on Thursday (11) to condemn former President Jair Bolsonaro and seven other defendants for the scammers to the penalty of ineligibility for an eight-year period.

The measure was a consequences of Bolsonaro’s conviction and the other accused of crimes of armed criminal organization, attempted violent abolition of the democratic rule of law, coup d’état, damage qualified by violence and serious threat and deterioration of listed heritage.

Due to the convictions, The accused were framed in the Clean Record Law and must be ineligible. The deadline starts to count from today’s session.

Judgment

By 4 votes to 1, and for crimes of armed criminal organization, attempted violent abolition of the Democratic Rule of Law, coup, damage qualified by violence and serious threat and deterioration of listed assets.

Most of the defendants were sentenced to more than 20 years in prison in closed regime.

Despite the definition of the conviction time, Bolsonaro and the other defendants will not be arrested immediately. They still. Only if any appeals are rejected, can the arrests be effective.

  • Augusto Heleno -Former Minister of the Institutional Security Office (GSI): 21 years;
  • Paulo Sérgio Nogueira -Former Defense Minister: 19;
  • Mauro Cid -Former Bolsonaro orders. 2 years in open regime and guarantee of freedom by the award -winning denunciation;
  • Alexandre Ramagem -Former director of the Brazilian Intelligence Agency (Abin): 16 years, one month and 15 days.

Ramagem was condemned only for crimes of armed criminal organization, attempted violent abolition of the Democratic Rule of Law and coup d’état.

He is a federal deputy and had part of the suspended accusations. The measure applies to crimes of damage qualified by violence and serious threat, against the union’s assets, and with considerable damage to the victim and deterioration of overturned assets, both related to the scammers of 8 January.
