Nestlé announced on Thursday, 11, in a statement, the expansion of the Nescafé Plan program in Brazil, linked to regenerative agriculture. Present since 2011 under the initiative “cultivated with respect”, the plan has tripled the number of participating farms in the last three years, now adding 3,800 in operation in the states of Bahia, Espírito Santo, Minas Gerais and Sao Paulo.

According to the statement from the Swiss company, growth is part of a global effort with a investment of 1 billion Swiss francs (equivalent to R $ 6.8 billion), destined by 2030, which aims to promote regenerative coffee growing, focusing on agricultural practices that conserve natural resources.

“This advance reinforces Brazil’s relevance as its origin for Nestlé Café worldwide,” says, in the note, the Nestlé cafes manager, Rodolfo Clímaco.

With the increase in investment in the country, the agronomist team also grew from 21 to 35 experts. Currently, 76% of farms adopt regenerative practices, resulting in properties that are, on average, 60% more productive compared to those that do not adopt.

The Nescafé Plan program, with partnerships in 16 countries and 200,000 coffee farmers, is based on three pillars: farmers’ training, natural resources protection and promotion of value chain practices. Globally, 32% of coffee is already produced through regenerative farms, exceeding the early goal from 20% to 2025, with a new goal of 50% by 2030.

These actions support Nestlé’s commitments to guarantee 100% responsible coffee by 2025 and halved the carbon footprint by 2030.
