Brazilian agribusiness has been consolidated as a strategic sector for the financial market, but still keeps challenges and opportunities little explored. To better understand this relationship, the latest edition of Podcast Raiz do Business, partnership between Infomoney and The Agribiliz, brought Pedro Freitas, XP’s investment banking partner, to talk about the company’s role in Agro, the operation of the capital market and the prospects for the sector.
Freitas detailed his experience connecting farmers and agribusiness companies to investors, highlighting how financial education and transparency are essential to integrate Agro into the capital market. XP at Agro – and acting in the capital market
Pedro Freitas said that XP began operating in Agro 12 years ago, initially as a form of “survival”, taking advantage of the opening of the sector for financial initiatives. “Agro was a relatively distant sector of Faria Lima and intensive capital, needing money to spin the business,” he said.

The executive pointed out that XP has structured debt operations, such as CRAS, the most used, he said, for Agro, allowing smaller companies to access capital without depending exclusively on large banks. Today, the institution holds about 30% participation in the CRAS market and has a strong presence also in the strokes, even after years of slowdown in the sector.
Freitas explained that the focus of XP has always been to educate – both the financial market and agro companies. “Our mission is to teach the company how to look at governance and transparency as an investment, not as cost, and bring investors and producers closer to events, roadshows And field visits, ”he said.
