Value was fixed as collective moral damages and should be paid in solidarity among the convicts
The first class of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) set the minimum compensation to be paid by the former president (PL) and seven other allies convicted in the trial of the coup plot. The amount, established as collective moral damages, must be solidarily paid off among all involved in the attempt to break institutional.
The rapporteur of the case, Minister Alexandre de Moraes, stressed that the same amount had already been applied to other actions related to attacks of January 8, 2023, in Brasilia. According to Supreme data, at least 400 convictions arising from undemocratic acts had this amount fixed as an indemnity parameter. With the decision, Bolsonaro becomes the first former president convicted by the Supreme Court for attempted coup, in a judgment considered historical by the Court.
