Sweden condemned Russian disturbance of the Polish airspace and expressed full support for Poland in its territorial defense.
The Swedish Foreign Ministry said on Thursday that it was summoned by the Russian ambassador for Wednesday’s violation of the Polish airspace. According to the AFP report, TASR reports this.
“Russian disturbances (Polish airspace) are unacceptable and pose a threat to European security,” said Swedish Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenmergard after meeting with the Russian ambassador. “During the meeting, the right of Poland was emphasized to defend its territorial integrity and defend its airspace,” she added.
Poland confirmed the shooting of Russian drones at night on Wednesday. At least 19 unmanned aircraft flew above the territory of the Member State of the European Union (EU) and the North Atlantic Alliance (NATO), three of which were shot down. Poland described the incident as an act of aggression and activated the article of four North Atlantic Treaty.
