China’s Ministry of Commerce began on Saturday (13) an anti -discriminatory investigation into the United States trade policy regarding chips, as well as a separate research on dumping, a day before a new round of commercial negotiations between Washington and Beijing in Spain.
The first investigation will examine whether the US had discriminated against Chinese companies in their chip trade policies. The second investigation will examine the suspicion of dumping in imports of some US analog chips used on devices such as hearing aids, Wi-Fi routers and temperature sensors.
The ministry said in a statement that the US has imposed a series of china restrictions on chips in recent years, including investigations of commercial discrimination and export controls.
These “protectionist” practices are suspected of discriminating against China and are intended to restrict and suppress Chinese development of high -tech sectors such as advanced computing chips and artificial intelligence, he added.
Meetings are close
A delegation led by Chinese vice-master-minister He Lifeng will start one.
The Ministry of Commerce said both sides will discuss economic and commercial issues such as US tariffs, “abuse” export controls and Tiktok. In a separate statement about negotiations on Saturday, he questioned US policies.
“What is the US intention by imposing sanctions on Chinese companies at this time?” The ministry said.
“China asks the US to immediately correct their erroneous practices and cease unjustified repression of Chinese companies. China will take the necessary measures to resolutely safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese companies.”
