Current DPU head is the most voted in an organ election – 12/09/2025 – Panel

The current federal general public defender was the most voted in the virtual election to choose (Federal Public Defender’s Office) in the 2026-2028 biennium, according to a result released by the agency on Friday (12).

He received 486 votes. Secondly, with 279 votes, it was Tarcijany Linhares Aguiar Machado, current regional defender of substitute human rights in Ceará. Fabiano Caetano Prestes, from the special category and crowded in Brasilia (DF), had 251 votes and was the third most voted.

Also participating in the election were the federal defender of the 2nd category Leonardo de Castro Trindade, housed in São Paulo and who received 240 votes, and the Federal Defender of Special Category Holden Macedo da Silva, with 188 votes.

After the resource phase and the disclosure of the final result, on the 17th, the names will compose the triple list that will be sent to the President (PT), which will choose one of the names.

The vote took place between this Thursday (11) and this Friday (12). Candidates needed to be a minimum age of 35 years, career stability and effective activity in the functions of federal public defender.

Current federal general public defender, Magalhães was nominated by Lula in late November 2023, after the Senate-a message of dissatisfaction of senators to the government.
