Alicia was in the 6th grade of elementary school and was studying at Aunt Zita School, in the city of Belém de São Francisco, 480 km from the capital Recife. Coming from a family of four brothers, she had a twin sister and two other brothers. The mother, separated from her father for years, holds her family working as a maid.
After being assaulted on the 4th, the girl had bleeding in the ears and nose and was taken to José Alventino Lima Hospital in Belém do São Francisco. When the student began to vomit blood, he was sent to the Inácio de Sá Regional Hospital in the city of Salgueiro and then transferred to the Restoration Hospital in Recife. Four days later, he had cerebral death.
A 12-year-old student was seized on Thursday (11) by decision of the court, suspected of being the aggressor who caused the death of Alicia. By note, the Pernambuco Civil Police reported that “the Belém do São Francisco Police Station fulfilled a provisional warrant of an adolescent for an offense analogous to the crime of bodily injury followed by death.”
Also according to police, “the teenager was located near the district of Nazaré, in the rural area of the municipality of Floresta.” The seizure was decreed by the Court of the County of the Municipality.
Estadão learned that, around 1 pm on the 4th, while the students were crowded in the school courtyard before entering the classroom, Alicia was approached by a child. The chase ended in the bathroom, when the child tried to kiss Alicia, while the other colleagues watched everything from the door and prevented others from coming in. As Alicia refused the kiss, the attacker would have hit her face, which fell and hit the head of the wall.
“Not only our family, but the whole society of Belém wants justice,” says Jacira Lima, cousin of Anna Vilcar Lima, mother of the girl Alicia. She has already taught in Aunt Zita in 2019 and 2020. “It was always a quiet school. There was confusion of teacher with student, student with student, normal school, but nothing like this tragedy that happened.”
The City of Belém do São Francisco mourned the death of Alicia and denied medical error in the care of the girl. “There was no medical negligence or discharge from hospital by health professionals who carried out the care of the smallest Valentina at the hospital of Dr. José Alêntino Lima. Note that the minor was taken home by his mother, without the doctor’s on -duty.
