G7 finance ministers discussed ways to increase financial “tightening” on Russia and expand funding to Ukraine, a joint statement issued today after group meeting.
Representatives say they have agreed to “accelerate discussions” to use Russian actives abroad that are blocked to finance Ukrainian defense, as well as explore other measures to support Ukraine: “G7 is committed to stop the Russian war machine”.
In addition, other sanctions and commercial measures were discussed, such as the imposition of tariffs on the countries that would be supporting Russia on the conflict, according to the note.

The meeting was motivated, according to the statement, by Russia’s “increasingly aggressive stance”, taking into account recent bombing in Ukraine and the violation of Polish airspace for Russian drones last Wednesday, 10.
The G7 is composed of Germany, Canada, the United States, France, Italy, Japan and the United Kingdom.
