Franziska returned more attentive to the second partial, took advantage of the Brazilian services failure and opened 4-0 advantage. Under pressure and disadvantage by 10/6, Calderano even saved three set points, but the German took advantage of his forehand and closed on 11/9, equaling the game in 1 to 1.
The Brazilian fitted his attack on the third set and, more aggressive, opened 7/3 over the 18th in the world. Franziska reacted, with three points in a row, but the number 4 of the world ranking took advantage of the second set point and completed the set on 9/11.
Confident, Calderano opened the fourth set of 3/01, forcing the German to ask for time, but only scored when the Brazilian won 6-0. Hugo took advantage of the good time, unleashed and won the partial 11/3.
Calderano came out in the fifth set by 3/1, but lost concentration and Franziska took the lead 5-4. The German took advantage of the Brazilian mistakes and, more intense in the duel, expanded the advantage to 8/4, closing the set on 11/4.
Franziska grew up in the match, contained the Brazilian’s onslaught and opened 4/1 advantage on the sixth set, but Hugo Calderano reacted, turned the scoring and opened an advantage on 10/6 and took advantage of his match points to close on 11/8 and confirm the victory.
“We met very well, we played many times. He is a great player, knew it would be difficult.
