An agent of the US immigration and customs service threw fatally into a man who resisted prison and dragged the authority during a police approach in a suburban Chicago on Friday (12).

The man, Silverio Villegas-Gonzalez, was one, according to the Department of Internal Security (DHS).

The police, whose name was not disclosed immediately, suffered serious injuries, but his health is stable, an internal security official told CNN.

The incident occurred during a police approach in Franklin Park, a community about 32 kilometers west of downtown Chicago. Villegas-Gonzalez drove his car toward police, hitting one of them and dragging him over a “considerable distance,” according to DHS.

“We are praying for our policeman’s rapid recovery. He has followed his training, used the proper strength and applied the law properly to protect the public and the authorities,” said Tricia McLaughlin, an internal security assistant secretary in a press release.

“Viral videos on social networks and activists encouraging illegal immigrants to resist law enforcement not only spread disinformation, but also impair public safety, as well as the safety of our police and those being arrested,” she said.

Immigration Beats in Chicago

The inspection operations have intensified in the Chicago area In recent days, marking one of the latest climbing between the Trump administration and cities led by democrats that limit cooperation with federal immigration authorities.

This week, the government announced The “Operation Midway Blitz”, which internal security officials described as undocumented in Illinois with criminal records.

To date, they say, the operation has resulted in arrest under these planned conditions.

Villegas-Gonzalez was a 38-year-old Mexican citizen who worked as a cook, according to the Consulate General of Mexico in Chicago.

He originated from the Mexican state of Michoacán.

Illinois governor JB Pritzker is “aware of the worrying incident that occurred at Franklin Park,” he said in a Facebook post.

“This is a developing situation and the people of Illinois deserve a complete and factual account of what happened today to ensure transparency and accountability,” Pritzker said in the post.
