CONIB (Israelite Confederation of Brazil) issued a statement in which it condemns anti-Semitic attacks against the Federal Supreme Court minister, due to his vote for the former president’s acquittal in the trial of the coup plot. Fux is the first Jew to take a place in the court.
The entity, the main representative of the Jewish community in Brazil, considered “alarming the explosion of attacks” against him, via social networks.
“You can agree or not with your decisions, but attacking you for your religion is a crime according to our country’s legislation,” says Conib.
The Confederation adds in the note that attacks against the Brazilian Jewish community have grown 350% since 2022. “The fight against anti -Semitism and hate speeches is one struggle, and a struggle of all,” he says.
