The 19 -year -old Brazilian, currently 42nd in the world, defeated number 286 in the ranking of ATP (Association of Professional Tennismen), by 2 sets to 0 (7/5 and 6/3), in 1 hour and 51 minutes.
In a format of better than five, the confrontation guarantees the team that once a place in the third victory reaches the qualifying round for the tournament finals next year. Brazil said goodbye to the classification for the finals of this year after being defeated by France 3-0 in February. The competition is a kind of tennis World Cup, in which the main tennis players of the circuit form national teams.
Following, Stefanos Tsitsipas, number 27 of the ranking and former number 3 in the world, seeks the draw for Greece against Paraná Thiago Wild, number 146.
In the first match of the confrontation, Sakellaridis bet on open looting that made it difficult for John’s return. Even so, the carioca managed to break his rival’s withdrawal to close the partial 7-5.
