Judge Luiz Gustavo Alcalde Pinto, from the District of Xapuri, decided that Risonete Borges Monteiro and Benigno Queiroz Sales will continue to be preemptively arrested as they respond for the murder of farmer Francisco Campos Barbosa, known as “Chico Abreu”. The crime occurred on November 25, 2022 and shocked the local community.

According to the magistrate, the severity of the case, marked by violence and threat, does not allow any flexibility of the precautionary measure. He stressed that the sentence of pronunciation has already become final, which prevents the filing of new appeals against the maintenance of the prison.
Civil Police investigations concluded that Benigno Sales, recently hired as a home, was the author of the shotgun shot that took Chico Abreu’s life within his own property. Days later, the accused was located and arrested in Epitaciolândia.
The findings also pointed to the participation of Risonete Borges, the victim’s wife, as responsible for the articulation of the crime. She would have planned the action to keep the land of the settler’s land and seize approximately $ 8,000 he kept.
