Presentation in Teresópolis is scheduled for September 21; The municipality recently decreed calamity
The (Rio de Janeiro State Public Prosecution Service) filed an injunction (provisional and urgent decision) against the municipality of Teresópolis, in the mountainous region of Rio, to suspend the show of the singer scheduled for September 21. The presentation will cost R $ 800 thousand.
In the action, the MP states that the municipality of Teresópolis recently decreed a state of financial calamity, recognizing debts of approximately R $ 700 million, and there are delays in salaries, severance pay and transfers to hospitals agreed to SUS (Unified Health System).
The document also indicates the need to implement basic public policies of health and social assistance. The prosecution states that the municipality alleged lack of money to the prosecutor and creditors to not comply with the obligations.
“It is not about preventing cultural manifestations, but from curbing disproportionate spending while basic services remain unassisted.”says prosecutor Rafael Luiz Lemos de Sousa.
According to the agency, the event will imply other spending not yet informed, which creates doubts about proportionality and public interest in the allocation of resources.
In the petition, the MP cites precedents in which shows were suspended by court order due to excessive amounts, such as Paranatinga (MT), where Leonardo’s hiring was annulled and the talisman company convicted to return R $ 300,000 to public administration for overpricing.
The Public Prosecution Service asks “The immediate suspension of the event or show already hired, as well as the ban on any payment with public resources to hold the party”. It also requires the subpoena of the Municipality of Teresópolis to inform, within 24 hours, the other expenses to hold the event along with the technical and financial justification.
