Polish Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz described the performance of allied forces on the night from September 9 to 10, after violation of Russian Polish Airspace, such as ‘impressive’
It confirmed it on Saturday (13) the beginning of the new East Sentinel Military Initiative, announced last Friday by the Secretary General of, Mark Rutte, with the aim of reinforcing the defense of the Oriental Flanner of the Alliance, after the invasion of Polish Airspace by Russian drones on Tuesday night.
“Operation OTAn’s Eastern Sentinel, which will defend, along with our allies, the security of Europe, has begun,” said Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz in a message published on social network X (former Twitter).
The minister described the performance of the Allied forces on the night from September 9 to 10, after the violation of Russian Polish airspace, such as “impressive”, emphasizing “interoperability, operability” and “excellent combination of capacities.”
“I thank everyone who participated: the Netherlands Air Force, our allies in Italy and Germany, and all those who have declared their support, led by the United States, the Nordic and Baltic countries, all western Europe, France and the United Kingdom. Thanks to all those who are committed to our common cause,” he emphasized.
Kosiniak-Kamysz added that the last days were “a test”, also for the effectiveness, operational capacity and strength of the Polish army, for the effectiveness of the Atlantic alliance, the European Union and the resistance to hybrid war that is being locked every day in Poland, against the security of Polish families against the Polish home, against peace in this part of the world.
“If anyone believes that war is not concerned, that attacks on cyberspace or misinformation do not concern him, from Tuesday to Wednesday, 9 and 10 September 2025, he showed that everything that neo-imperialist Russia does by attacking Ukraine also very directly affects Poland, the eastern flank of NATO and all of Europe,” he said.
The Poland’s Armed Forces Operational Command noted in a statement published on social network X that “NATO’s actions are not limited to responding to isolated incidents.”
“Eastern sentinel is not just a new initiative, it is a clear sign: NATO borders are inviolable and the security of our citizens remains a priority,” emphasized the operational command, which thanked the allies for their solidarity with Poland and their decision to send forces into a concrete response that demonstrates that the unity of the alliance translates into true border defense, he noted.
The Polish army’s staff also confirmed the start of NATO operation with the release of a video showing the landing of an A400 French transport aircraft at Minsk Mazowiecki Military Air Base, accompanied by the phrase “Operation Eastern Sentinel began”. According to the Polish portal “RMF FM”, the plane was carrying weapons to the Rafale fighters, which are allegedly already in Poland.
