Thousands on the street in Berlin by the "end of genocide" in Gaza

A demonstration in Berlin gathered between 12 and 20,000 people to protest for the “end of genocide” in the Gaza Strip and the end of the supply of weapons to Ukraine.

Thousands of people gathered this Saturday in Berlin, in front of Brandeburg doors, to demand the “end of genocide” in the Gaza Strip.

The demonstration, convened by the Aliança Sahra Wagenknecht (BSW) party, brought together between 12,000 people, the number released by the police, and 20,000 people, according to the organization’s accounts, both cited by the France Presse Agrance (AFP), which reports that it is one of the largest protests in defense of Palestine in Germany in recent months.

In early August, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz announced the suspension of Military Equipment Exports to Israel that could be used in the Gaza Strip following the announcement of the Israeli plan for Palestinian city control.

Due to its historical responsibility for the Holocaust, Germany has traditionally been one of Israel’s greatest supporters.

Berlin’s position on Israel, however, has hardened in recent months as the humanitarian situation in the Gaza range has been dramatically deteriorated.

The most recent phase of the Israelo-Palestinian conflict was triggered by an attack by the Islamite extremist group on Israeli soil on 7, 2023, which caused about 1,200 dead and more than two hundred hostages, and after which the current Israeli military offensive over Gaza began.

The UN has long declared the territory plunged into a severe humanitarian crisis, with more than two million people in a “catastrophic hunger” and “the highest number of victims ever recorded” by the organization in food security studies in the world.

Israel is currently underway for a military plan to occupy the capital of the territory and expel hundreds of thousands of inhabitants, which provides for hamm’s disarmament and the recovery of hostages before delivering the enclave to non -hostile civil management to Telavive.

At the end of last year, a special UN commission accused Israel of genocide in Gaza and being using hunger as a weapon of war – an accusation soon refuted by the Israeli government, but without any arguments.
