With diplomatic tension, USA seeks to preserve the role of the Arab country as a mediator of the conflict

United States President Donald Trump (Republican Party) had dinner on Friday (12.Set.2025) with Qatar Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani in New York.

The meeting was the same week when Israel, an American ally, held an attack on Qatari territory. The US mediates a truce in the Gaza Strip to end the conflict that extends for almost 2 years.

Steve Witkoff, a special sent to the Middle East and one of Trump’s top counselors, attended the meeting. The White House confirmed dinner, but gave no details about the subjects discussed.

After the offensive in Doha, the Prime Minister of Qatar accused Israel of trying to sabotage the possibilities of peace, but stated that he will not be dissuaded from his role as a mediator in the conflict.
