Tenth placed in the world ranking of the category up to 76 kg, women’s free style, Thamires Machado tested positive on an anti -doping exam and will miss the Brazilian team in the World Championship, which will be held from Saturday (13) until the 21st.
The Brazilian Wrestling Confederation (CBW) reported that the 25 -year -old athlete is preventively suspended by the United World Wrestling (UWW) anti -doping program, which regulates sports, in partnership with the International Organization Testing Agency (ITA).
The prohibited substance was detected 19-Norandrosterone, an anabolic asteroid, under an examination performed in July, during the Budapest Series ranking, in which the Brazilian won the gold medal. According to CBW, Machado chose not to appeal to request the counterpart of the testing – the deadline ended on August 25.
“CBW management deeply regrets what happened, which is entirely encountered the ethical guidelines of the Confederation and escapes its complete control,” said the Brazilian Wrestling Confederation, in a statement. “CBW points out that it is giving all technical and personal support to the athlete so that it can fulfill all requests from regulatory entities, and reflect the best way on the direction of your sports career.”
Thamires Machado had been standing out as one of the main names in Wrestling and was the country’s main medal hope in the World Cup. In addition to gold in Budapest, the athlete took the silver medal in the Pan American Championship, held in May. It will await the judgment, without a defined deadline, which will define the penalty to which it will be submitted.
